Weight management doesn't have to be HARD.
It can actually be quite simple if you follow this one simple trick:
Expend more calories than you consume.
Every day it seems like we are inundated with new diet suggestions. Everything from low-carb to high-fat diets. Suggestions we eat like our ancestors to suggestions that we barely eat.
What are we to believe anymore? I’m going to key you in on a little secret.
There is a full-proof way to maintain a steady weight that doesn’t require an overly complex planning mechanism.
What is that diet, you may ask? Simple.
Eat less calories than you expend.
Firstly, let's determine your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR).
What is that you ask?
Your BMR is the minimum number of calories that your body needs in order to support the basic functions of your organs.
You can think of it as the amount of energy you'd burn if you stayed in bed all day.
Check out your BMR here. For example: my BMR is 1816 calories/day. Remember, that number is the base number of calories required just for me to exist and does not take into consideration my activity level.
Based on my BMR, I can also calculate the approximate number of calories that I should consume based on my activity level for any given day.
By clicking the link above you can determine your BMR to determine the number of calories you should be consuming based on your daily activity levels.
Remember, at the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter what type of diet you like to follow. Whether you want to eat like our ancestors, follow a vegetarian diet, or eat butter all day (don’t really do this), make certain that you are expending more calories that you are consuming.
One easy way to help you manage this would be:
1: To determine your BMR
2. Keep a daily log of your caloric intake (there are many free nutrition calculators on the web as well as apps)
3. Be mindful of the calories that you are burning daily based on your activity level.
Don’t let all the kerfuffle about different diets confuse you.
Just remember to intake less calories than you expel.
Easy Peasy!
