25 Ways to Get Active While Having Fun

Let’s get active

One of the keys to staying healthy is making sure you remain active. While I personally love going to the gym, many of my friends do not. If you are not a gym person, do not despair. There are many ways to ensure you are getting some daily exercise.
Here are some fun and easy ways to incorporate fitness into your daily lives.
1. Take a break at work. Instead of spending those 15 minutes on Amazon.com go for a brief 15-minute walk.
2. Write down your daily activity level. This will keep you honest and provide a summary of your week’s activities. You can use this log to challenge yourself daily/weekly. Keep improving!
3. Get yourself motivated. I personally find listening to my favorite tunes helps to keep me going.
4. Buy a Fitbit or look for an app on your phone to track your mileage per day. This will enable you to track what improvements you have made and provide an opportunity to challenge yourself daily/weekly.
5. Park farther away from your office or the store so you can get some extra walking in.
6. Do your own gardening or mowing the lawn to get not only the benefits of burning some calories but also some fresh air.
7. Volunteer to coach your kids’ sports team. You’ll be giving back to the community and getting some exercise in.
8. If you travel for work, hit up the hotel gym or go explore the area you are in.
9. Find a friend who also is looking to be more active and plan to go for a walk or hike.
10. If you live near the water get a Paddle-board, Canoe or Kayak. We are fortunate to live near a lagoon where we often go Paddle boarding. Early mornings are the best!
11. Attend a CrossFit class.
12. Hire a personal trainer.
13. Make a commitment to do 20 min of activity first thing when you wake up. If that time doesn’t work for you commit to some type of activity in the evening.
14. Put a limit on the amount of TV you watch and spend some of that time you have been given back doing something healthy.
15. When going out to dinner, spend some time before or after exploring the area you are in. Its amazing what you may find even in areas you thought you were familiar with
16. Read some fitness blogs or subscribe to a fitness magazine to pick up some new fitness ideas.
17. Shovel snow in your driveway and then shovel your neighbor’s driveway. They will be stoked, and you will have the benefits of being a good neighbor and burning some additional calories.
18. Wash your car by hand instead of taking it to the car wash.
19. If you play golf, play at areas where you can forgo the cart.
20. Go to a yoga class. Check Groupon or a similar site for deals in your area.
21. Walk on a treadmill on an incline.
22. Hop on an exercise bike.
23. Take a dance class. We have been taking bi-weekly swing dance lessons for over a year and love it. You get the benefit of spending time with your SO and burning calories.
24. Buy an exercise ball and do some core exercise for 15 min/day.
25. Go swimming. Great calorie burning exercise and easy on the joints.
