Our Premier Blog Post: How to Upgrade Your Joy

Upgrade your joy has evolved into so much more than we could have imagined. It started with a conversation on one of our weekly beach walks.
How do we bottle up and seal what we have with each other so it never fades?
As we thought more about what our relationship has evolved into we started realizing it's really simple.
It's taking the time to focus on one another with no distraction. (We make it a point to put our phones away when on said walks or watching a show together).
It's the small compliments throughout the day. The kisses and affection. In order to have joy in your life, it's really the simple things you do daily.
How we met is a traditional way in today's standards. We call our meeting serendipitous. It's the running joke (but not really a joke) of how we met. We are neighbors, and over the course of a year would run into each other randomly, and say "Hello". Although one day we decided to have a drink together and discuss the book I recently published.
We are both divorced with children, and was navigating the dating world in our 40's. That in itself is worthy of a book, but we'll come back to that another day.
The thing is.... we liked each other, and even though we had several people say "don't do it...you're neighbors." We didn't listen to them, and thank goodness we didn't. Dating him has been one of the better decisions of my life.
Coming out of divorce, you can be quite broken down and vulnerable. I am glad I didn't let that keep me down. I address how I handled that in my book I co-authored, Charmed Divorce if you need a pick me up and some mindfulness, it's a great read.
Love the second time around is an entirely different, much more adult experience. We appreciate one another, I appreciate his time, kindness, lovingness, and overall being. I appreciate how he looks at me. It's really the small things that matter most.
Things I may have taken for granted when I was younger I don't let happen anymore. The small gestures, small compliments, lovingly gestures.
I realized one day that my life was filled with joy. And he was a lot of that reason. I quickly found myself in a new relationship that was everything I ever wanted and used to dream about.
Upgrade your joy is something we created to share our experience and shower it into the universe for others. It's really simple to have a fulfilling and loving relationship with tons of passion if you try.
