“I have a choice: Do I want to align with the GREATEST VISION OF MYSELF, or do I want to align with my EXCUSES?” ~Debbie Ford
When you mentally rehearse new healthy habits, you strengthen your ability to create them in your life. Identify images that align with accomplishing your goals and spend time visualizing them daily. Are you living by design or by default? Design the highest grandest vision possible for your life today.
For the next 24 hours, live “AS IF” this grand vision has already come true. Extra Challenge: Practice this “AS IF” mentality for the rest of the week, living “out of your imagination, not your history.” You become what you believe.
Some examples of how you can begin implementing this "AS IF" mentality immediately.
Dress the Part.
Most of us have heard the phrase, 'Dress the part'. Well, there is actually scientific evidence that what we wear impacts the way we feel and behave. (Enclothed Cognition - Prof Adam Galinsky and Hajo Adam). When you look your best you perform your best and your confidence shines through. Whether you're going to meet a friend for dinner this week or going to an office tomorrow, put just that little extra effort into getting yourself ready. I guarantee, you will feel better and will be performing at your best.
Relationship Plus.
Give your S.O. some extra kisses the next time you see him/her. Hold that hug just a second longer. Squeeze their hand just a little tighter on that next walk, if even for just a second. Putting in that little extra effort will most likely be contagious and I think you will find your S.O. returning this additional affection. Remember, relationships are not 50/50 every second of the day. Putting in an extra 10% is often all it takes to reignite the flame.
As If.
Each morning wake up and say "I am so grateful that I am <AS IF Statement> and living the best life possible." For the entire day and the rest of this week pretend you are already living the life you dreamed about. Thinking about future positives in your life is much more meaningful than thinking of current negatives. The "Fake it until you make it" mentality has some meaning behind it.
Enjoy the journey!
